GDPR Day: Getting GDPReady!

With just days until the new General Data Protection Regulation comes into force on 25 May 2018, we marked the occasion with a huge awareness day to inform and educate MVFers about the upcoming changes under the GDPR.

Our education campaign kicked off a few weeks ago with information, updates and new processes shared with teams via our internal communications channels.

The team also held some face-to-face training sessions for our Contact Centre to make sure they are well prepared for obtaining lead consent and handling request to exercise individual rights.

At our latest monthly managers assembly our General Counsel Tom Worner revealed our plans for a GDPR awareness day on 14 May, where MVFers would be issued with a link to an e-learning module to complete GDPR training.

When it came to GDPR Day, our Legal & Compliance team snuck in at 7:30am, dropping a flier about the training and the prizes up for grabs along with a Kit Kat on each desk in our London offices so MVFers could ‘take a break’ at 11am when the link to complete the online module was released.

At 9am when our London teams walked in, they weren’t just welcomed by the delicious desk drop, but by posters permanently installed around the office to remind us all about our responsibility to comply with data protection and privacy laws, to respect individuals’ choices and to protect our reputation through compliance.

They were also offered stickers which many have already used to spruce up their laptops.

By 11am the excitement was palpable; every MVFer wanted to be one of the first twenty to complete their online training to receive a bottle of prosecco prize.

Teams were vying to be the first to have 100% completion so they’d receive a dinner cooked for them by our President Titus Sharpe, CEO Michael Teixeira and COO Andrew Harkness, and no team wanted the shame of scoring the lowest completion rate at the end of the week which came with the duty of creating snacks for the rest of the company at Stinky’s, our weekly charity fundraising hour.

GDPR

The engagement with our GDPR online training was incredible. By midday, four teams had completion rates above 90% and every team had a completion rate exceeding 30%.

We can’t wait to see which team will be cooked for and which will be doing the cooking, with all winners revealed at our next monthly managers assembly which falls the day before the GDPR comes into effect.

We’ll be sure to reveal the winners on our social media channels, so watch this space!
