What better way to spend a tumultuous day in British politics than in the middle of the woods, listening to inspiring talks with no internet signal? That is how MVF staff spent their Friday, and it was certainly a day to remember. In celebration of this year’s performance and as a welcome-party for our USA office who had flown over, MVF took over some beautiful woods in the Hertfordshire countryside for a day of talks, merriment and company bonding.
Arriving at 9.30 after negotiating a winding track into the woods, staff were welcomed with bacon butties and hot coffee. Talks ran throughout the morning and were delivered by members of staff as well as guest speaker, Bremont watches founder Giles English. Staff could choose which talk they attended from a choice of Management, General and Marketing themes, all running concurrently and showcasing people from different departments.
After a lunchtime break to enjoy a sprawling buffet, and a quick kick-about for some, talks resumed, with breakout sessions for everyone to ponder some of the big questions such as ‘what tech company will break into the top five in the next two years?’ or ‘how could MVF improve?’.
Jared Keleher comments: “All of the talks were really inspiring. It was great to be in a such a beautiful location, it just gave everyone time to break out of their routine and learn something new, speak to new people and take stock.”
Once the talks were over it was time for a hog roast dinner, followed by the MVF awards. Trophies were given in two categories - People’s Choice, which included titles such as ‘Best Beard’ and Directors' Choice which celebrated people who captured the MVF values such as ‘Inspires Positivity’, 'Earns Trust' or 'Drives to be World Class'.
After this, everyone enjoyed music from a local DJ and the dancing continued until the early hours, with staff eventually retiring to beautiful tipis on the grounds.
MVF has a history of throwing exceptional staff parties, for the last two years the entire staff have flown to Ibiza for a weekend of sun and partying. This is the first time the company has hosted its own festival, but perhaps might not be the last, Logan Partridge who was one of the masterminds behind the event comments: "It was a really amazing weekend - to have the UK and US office all together was great, and the festival format allowed everyone to get to know each other in a less formal setting. Everyone was left feeling really positive and I definitely think it has made us all feel more bonded across the company. We can't wait to have more events like this as the company grows and we gain more staff with more great ideas."
