Puppies Give MVFers Paws For Thought

MVF’s internal wellbeing programme, Be Well, kicked off the new year with a bang, partnering with Paws In Work to offer MVFers a specialist puppy therapy event.

Paws In Work brought a litter of puppies into the office, with the goal to entice MVFers to take a 20 minute break away from the desk and de-stress with some puppy playtime!

The team set up a dedicated ‘play area’ with artificial grass, picket fences, bean bags, cushions and, of course, the cutest pups in London.

MVF Wellbeing Advisor Hannah Meredith commented: “We wanted to do something to really spur us all on in the first full week back at work after the holiday break. We discovered Paws In Work and thought it would be the perfect way to kick off 2019!

“Research shows there are hormonal changes that occur when humans and dogs interact which can help people cope with depression and certain stress-related disorders. Within just a few minutes of stroking a dog, a person gets a release of a number of ‘feel good’ hormones including serotonin, prolactin and oxytocin. Petting pooches also results in decreased levels of the primary stress hormone cortisol.

“The puppy therapy session was delivered to an exceptional standard and the event feedback clearly shows that the benefits were felt and appreciated right across the business – our CEO Michael was a particularly big fan!”
